ABOUT DOPECAT UNIVERSE
WHERE DID DOPECAT COME FROM?
The name DopeCat was inspired by the style, language, and attitude of New York City in the 1970s and 1980s. In movies and everyday slang from that era, someone who was stylish, confident, or just plain cool might be called a “cool cat.”
I took that idea and replaced cool with dope — another way of saying something is cool, original, impressive, or just stands out from the crowd. DopeCat has nothing to do with drugs or marijuana. It’s about New York attitude, originality, creativity, and being your own kind of cool.
WHAT IS DOPECAT UNIVERSE?
DopeCat Universe is a growing world of original characters, collectibles, and artwork, with DopeCat leading the way. The Universe currently consists of a handful of characters, but this is only the beginning. More characters, stories, and ideas will continue to be added as the DopeCat Universe grows.
At its heart, DopeCat Universe is about collectability — from .999 fine silver and precious-metal pieces to DopeCat Dollars, limited-edition collectibles, merchandise, artwork, and pretty much anything DopeCat. Many releases are produced in small quantities, making each piece part of the continuing history of the DopeCat Universe.
BEHIND DOPECAT
DopeCat Universe is a personal project created from my love of collecting, precious metals, artwork, and old-school New York culture. I’m not a mint or a large company. I’m a hobbyist creator who comes up with the ideas and works with talented artists, designers, pourers, and craftspeople to bring those ideas to life.
What started with one character has continued to grow into something much bigger — new characters, DopeCat Dollars, silver collectibles, designer pours, merchandise, and more.
